El Arenal
The other nerve center of the city of Xabia is El Arenal. The Arenal beach is the main tourist center of Xàbia. The main attraction, the beach and the wide range of leisure and gastronomy on the Paseo del Tenista David Ferrer. This urban core has experienced strong growth in recent years.
The beach
Arenal Beach is the only sandy beach in the entire municipality. It is a beach of 480 meters long, with shallow water and thick sand. Located in the center of the Bay of Xàbia, it is the main tourist center and one of the most famous beaches frequented by swimmers.
Roman settlement
At the northern end of the beach, in the famous Punta de l'Arenal-Muntanyar or also Minister's Cove, are the remains of an important Roman settlement, where today the Parador de Turismo de Xàbia is located. Modern constructions have destroyed this settlement, but part of it is still preserved. This Roman-era settlement was inhabited for more than 600 years.
This commercial settlement preserves a large excavated raft, known as the 'Baths of the Queen'. It was also the place where the Romans made salted fish, which was the main economic activity of the factory discovered there.
Viewpoint Punta de l'Arenal
From here you can see Punta del Arenal, a Roman trading settlement. Moreover, from this angle you can fully see Arenal Beach and Cabo de San Antonio.
